Contemporary Three-Level Home Showcasing Creative Design Features in Denver

Displaying an original contemporary architecture, the 33rd Avenue house is an elongated residence located in Denver’s LoHi neighborhood, in Colorado, USA. Meridian 105 Architecture had to come up with a creative plan for minimizing the effects of heavy traffic in the area and the salvaging idea was to raise the entire first floor of the project to nearly six inches above the sidewalk. This resulted in a partially submerged garden level offering a high amount of privacy.

The main level accommodates the kitchen, dining, and living spaces and the upper floor contains a master suite with access to an exterior roof terrace: “With downtown skyline views to the South, the upper volume of the home was shifted toward the rear to create the roof deck. Its peaked roof responds to the City’s zoning requirements for bulk plane and height, and fits appropriately with the surrounding neighborhood context“. Two additional bedrooms reside in the partially submerged lower level, as can be observed in the architecture plans at the end of the post. [Photography: Raul J. Garcia]
